The widening of Highway N is real, partially funded, and on the record. Dates slip when nobody's watching. We live here — so we're watching.

The target
2027
St. Charles County
County Executive Steve Ehlmann is publicly pushing for a 2027 groundbreaking on the Highway N widening. (County announcement, Jan 5, 2026)
The program
2028
MoDOT's 5-year plan
MoDOT's FY 2027–2031 STIP lists the Route N project (No. 6S3342C) with a contract award date of 2028 — and covers only 2.48 of Phase One's ~4 miles.
Both statements are from official documents. Both can't hold. Our job is simple: track the dates, credit what gets done, and make noise when it slips.

The countdown
Every commitment on the record, and where it stands. This is the whole campaign.
The Route N widening (Hopewell Rd → Hawk Ridge Trail) is in the FY 2027–2031 STIP. Credit where due: this is the binding signal, and it's real.
$46M+ allocated from the ½-cent Transportation Sales Tax, and the County Council shelved the Lake Saint Louis Blvd extension to prioritize Highway N.
The county's transportation director said funding "could be in place by June" 2026. June has passed, and we've found no public announcement that it closed. We're asking.
Only 2.5 of Phase One's ~4 miles are programmed for construction. Ebert Lane → Hopewell Road has no construction funding in the current STIP. When does the rest get programmed?
The intersection was realigned; the follow-up signal was expected in 2026. Interim safety for the corridor's busiest new intersection.
The clock this site is named for. MoDOT's program currently says the contract award happens in 2028.
The county's stated completion target for Phase One construction. Until then: still 2 lanes.

Take action
Tell the county and MoDOT: hold the 2027 target, and program all four miles. Numbers are what get read into the record at public meetings.
